No. The preview is free, there's no account to create. You only pay once you've seen your portrait mockup and confirm.

Most phone photos work well. Aim for good lighting, faces in focus, and your subject filling a decent part of the frame. You'll find out through the preview as well if a different photo may be more suitable.

The preview you approve is a digital mockup so you can see the composition and style before committing. The painting itself is then made 100% by hand by a real artist. Most competitors just use a printer but we stand by real art painted by real artists.

We are 100% hand-drawn and pay real wages to support our artists. Many other services just print out the picture and are able to offer different prices as a result. We stand by our portraits as true art and believe you'll appreciate the difference!

Yes, absolutely. We'll paint everyone together in a single scene, even if they were never photographed together — a grandparent and a newborn, for instance. Tell us how you'd like them arranged and we'll paint it like that. These make for some of the best gifts!

Your preview is ready in seconds. Once you approve and order, your painting takes 10-15 business days, plus shipping. We offer expedited painting if you need yours sooner for a fee, which will put you in the front of our list!

Yes! Before you order, you can revise your preview up to six times just by describing what you'd like changed — warmer light, a different background, a hat, anything.

If you have a change of heart after checkout, please tell us as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee a change is possible but we will do our best to catch the artist before they start painting. We send you a photo of the finished painting before anything ships!

Surprises are rare but can happen. If it still isn't right when it arrives, due to shipping damage or it doesn't match your approved photo, reach out via our 'Contact Us' page and we'll make it right.

The digital mockup has been a wonderful addition for our customers so they can preview and adjust instantly.

Up to five. The first subject is included in the price and each additional one adds a little to cover the extra work — you'll see the exact price update as you choose.

A subject is defined as a person and/or an animal. So if there are 2 people and a dog in a portrait, that would be 3 total subjects.

As you may imagine, it takes extra work for our artist to paint each person or pet so we ask you to inform us how many are in the portrait and charge accordingly.

Three sizes — 12×16, 18×24 and 24×36 inches — framed in black, white, walnut or natural wood, or unframed if you'd rather use your own. You'll see the price for every combination before you order.

They're used to create your portrait and nothing else. We don't sell them or share them with anyone.
